Last weekend, our TrueFaced/Catalyst team offered a marriage retreat for business and professional couples, from their 20′s to their 60′s. One of the last persons I talked to said to me, “For the first time in several years, I have hope for our family.”

This couple has been through many Bible studies and even more sermons during those years. They have generously served many people during those times. So, I asked myself again, “Why?” Why, after all these mounds of Christian input does this individual leave a TrueFaced retreat on Protective Love in Marriage, and carry away with them the first light of the hope of rescue?”

The eloquent author of When Bad Christians Happen to Good People, Dave Burchett, wrote a blog that answers my question. Dave is also an Emmy Award winning television sports director for ESPN, Fox Sports and the Texas Rangers.

Proverbs says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.” Dave would add, “and cynical too.” Cynical, at least, until real hope finally shows up.

Every day, I need this hope that comes from living in the Room of Grace If you have a story like Dave about life in the room of grace, I’d love to hear it. Email me at stories@truefaced.com or post a comment.
